Dr. Kokayi and some of the other practitioners at Kokayi Health offer telephone consultations to assist clients who are unable to travel to the office.
From Dr. Kokayi
As a physician, I have studied and developed alternative healing skills including acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, clinical nutrition and environmental medicine, applied kinesiology, and energetic healing. In listening to and observing my patients, it is clear to me that conventional allopathic medicine has strengths and weaknesses, and that there are diagnostic and therapeutic systems that have so much to offer and are as wide ranging as the cultures of this planet that invented them.
The model that I employ as a physician is that all health imbalances can be understood and treated within the context of four major themes:
- biomechanical (i.e., structural/ musculoskeletal )
- biochemical (i.e., metabolism, hormones, blood chemistry)
- bioenergetic (i.e., chi or life energy, prana ), and
- spiritual (i.e., metaphysical body).
Sometimes a person’s problems require the kind of mechanical body work that a chiropractor, Craniosacral practitioner, massage therapist or even a surgeon can do. Other times biochemical strategies are paramount and these can come in the form of nutrition, drugs, herbs, and supplements. Some problems respond best to bioenergetic therapies like acupuncture. In the course of treating people over the years, I have also seen cases in which patients benefit from care that addresses the spiritual and emotional aspects of their being, with therapies such as psychotherapy, biodfeedback, prayer, meditation, and ritual being transformative in their healing. And of course many people do best with a multi-level approach that incorporates several therapies to resolve illness and create healing.
In the course of a phone consultation, I will assess what approaches I feel would best help in treating your condition and provide a recommended protocol for you. My consultations are designed to help people see additional perspectives from which to understand and approach the treatment of their health problems. They should not be considered a substitute for appropriate medical care available to you in your area.
Phone consultations consist of two sessions -- an initial consult up to fifty minutes and a follow up of up to thirty minutes. There is also a pre-interview with my assistant Dr Aminah Dean to get some basic information from you, to see if we need to send you any questionnaires, and to determine if a consultation is appropriate.
