About Diane:
Diane Pulzello R. N. has over 25 years experience in holistic healthcare as a Colon Physiotherapist and registered nurse. She is one of Philomena’s colonic hydrotherapy teachers and has collaborated with Philomena in her practice.
Diane studied with colon hydrotherapy pioneers and physiotherapists Dr. Harold Riley and Dorothy Riley who from 1935 to 1965 ran a world renowned Health Spa in Rockefeller Center. Dr. Riley was also a Chiropractor and Naturopath, and a long-time collaborator of Edgar Cayce, a world renowned Psychic and medical intuitive. The Riley’s Center was the originating center for Colonic Irrigation in NYC and much of the rest of the Country; the place where it all started and the technique for colon hydrotherapy was perfected.
The Method
Dr. Riley trained Diane in his colon hydrotherapy techniques, who in turn trained Philomena. One of the key elements to this colonic technique is its emphasis on rehabilitating and toning the colon through hydrotherapy. The therapist uses the water therapeutically to gently "exercise" the colon and stimulate its natural peristalsis (contraction and expansion) of colon musculature, the foundation of a healthy digestive system. Your digestive system has an integral role in your overall health and immunity due to the presence of lymphatic tissue throughout the digestive tract, where lymphocytes (disease and toxin fighting cells) are produced. This makes the cleansing, detoxification and toning of the digestive system important aspects of holistic health care.
Why Have Colonics At Kokayi Health!
Diane and Philomena’s training based in the Riley technique and in the Wood Gravity method place emphasis on gentleness, and the healing and strengthening of the bowel, rather than just filling the colon to capacity with water and emptying it— a stressful cycle which actually weakens colon muscle tone, elasticity, and is uncomfortable for the client.
Using the Wood Gravity Method allows our therapists to individualize the colonic- the amount of water, pressure and cycles--based on your unique needs and health condition. The Gravity Method is different in that rather than pressure forcing water into the colonic system and your colon, gravity is the basis for the flow of the water, which the therapist closely controls while simultaneously performing abdominal massage, to stimulate additional release. Our clients praise the Gravity method for its gentleness, increased attention and massage time and release.
Why Colonics?
Consider the role of the colon; to hold digested food until it is time to eliminate (bowel movement). While this waste material is held the colon, if the body is dehydrated, waste may harden and lead to constipation; if elimination is slowed, a build-up of waste results, exposing your system to accumulated waste longer than optimal.
Lymph nodes near the colon drain and detoxify its waste and support the body’s overall detoxification and immune response. Waste accumulated in the colon, can overload the nearby lymph tissue, reduce immunity and lead to health conditions including diverticulitis and candidiasis, as well as loss of colon muscle tone and strength, chronic irritations and abnormal tissue growth. Also, the colon—in association with the liver, kidneys, skin and lungs—is one of the main eliminatory channels for the entire body. If the colon is not eliminating properly, extra waste is accumulated, overloading the body’s other channels of elimination and triggering discomfort and disease.
When receiving colonic therapy clean water facilitates the colon’s cleansing and peristalsis, leading to greater colon strength and health. Upon release, the water also removes waste that may be lodged in the colon. Call 212-792-6010 for an appointment.
